What foreglow.co collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. In short: there is no form on this site, Google Analytics and LinkedIn’s tag run only if you say yes, and the details you give when you book a call stay with us and the services that run the booking.
Who we are
Foreglow is a web design studio run by Jeet Sarkar in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. We decide how personal data on this site is used: we are the “data fiduciary” under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and the “controller” under the GDPR and the UK GDPR. Write to jeet at foreglow dot co about anything on this page.
Grievance officer
Jeet Sarkar handles questions and complaints about your data: jeet at foreglow dot co. We confirm we’ve received a complaint within 7 days and resolve it within 30 days.
What we collect
- When you visit. Our host, Cloudflare, processes your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you open, the page you came from and the time, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Cloudflare also counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
- If you accept visit counts. Google Analytics records the pages you view, how long you stay, your device and browser, roughly where you are (city level) and how you found us. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. We don’t turn on its advertising features or Google signals.
- If you accept company insights. LinkedIn’s Insight Tag records your visit, so we can see in aggregate which companies, industries and job roles visit. We never see who you are. If you are signed in to LinkedIn, LinkedIn connects the visit to your account under its own policy.
- When you book a call. Cal.com stores your name, email, time zone, the time you pick and your answers to its questions (such as your company and what you’re launching). The call runs on Google Meet. We don’t record calls.
- When you email us. Your emails and our replies are kept in Google Workspace.
We don’t collect payment details, and we never ask for sensitive data such as health, religion or financial information. We don’t sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it to make automated decisions about you.
Why we use it, and on what grounds
- To deliver the site and keep it secure: needed to run the site safely (our legitimate interest).
- To count visits and learn which companies visit: only with your consent, which you can take back at any time.
- To prepare for and hold the call you booked, and to reply to you: you gave us the details for that purpose (steps you asked for before any agreement).
- To meet legal duties: for example keeping records that tax law requires, if we work together.
Your consent
Nothing that needs your consent loads before you say yes, and saying no is as easy as saying yes. Change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a no.
How long we keep it
- Booking details and emails: up to 24 months after our last contact, unless we work together; then for as long as the contract and tax law require.
- Google Analytics: up to 14 months.
- LinkedIn: LinkedIn removes direct identifiers within 7 days and deletes the rest within 180 days, under its own policy.
- Cloudflare’s security logs: a short time, as Cloudflare sets.
Who else handles it
These services process data for us, under contracts that limit what they may do with it:
- Cloudflare: hosting, security and cookie-free visit counts (privacy policy (opens in a new tab)).
- Google: Analytics, Meet and Workspace (privacy policy (opens in a new tab); how Google uses data from sites like ours (opens in a new tab)).
- LinkedIn: the Insight Tag (privacy policy (opens in a new tab)).
- Cal.com: booking (privacy policy (opens in a new tab)).
We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.
Data sent abroad
These services store and process data in other countries, including the United States. Where the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies, the transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK extension) where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. India’s law allows transfers except to countries the government restricts.
Keeping it safe
The site runs only over HTTPS. Only Jeet Sarkar can see bookings and emails. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what data we hold about you, get a copy, have it corrected or deleted, and take back your consent. Depending on where you are, the law also gives you these rights:
- India: to have your data corrected, completed, updated and erased, to have your grievances resolved, and to name someone to exercise your rights if you die or can’t act yourself.
- EU and UK: to restrict or object to our use of your data, and to receive it in a portable format.
- UAE: to object to or restrict processing, and to receive your data.
Write to jeet at foreglow dot co. We may ask you to confirm who you are, and we answer within 30 days.
Complaints
If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India, to the data protection authority where you live in the EU (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office), or to the UAE Data Office.
Children
This site is for businesses. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if you think we have, write to us and we’ll delete it.
Other sites
Links and the booking calendar take you to services such as Cal.com and LinkedIn, which follow their own privacy policies.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If we start using your data in a new way, we’ll ask for your consent where the law requires it.
